MEET NATHAN SLAUGHTER

With 4 children and 25 years of marriage, my life is rooted in the values of family and service. This journey began in Hamburg, Germany, where I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and where I also unexpectedly met my wife, Cindy. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to community, leading me to serve in various ecclesiastical and public service roles over the years. We have called Cedar City home for the last 13 years, embracing the unique spirit of this community as the perfect place to raise our family and contribute to the local landscape.

Professionally, my career has been defined by a passion for education and wellness. Before moving to Cedar, I worked as a clinical athletic trainer, gaining diverse experience in both private and public educational settings. This clinical background provided a front-row seat to the importance of mentorship and hands-on learning, which eventually inspired my transition into the formal classroom. Today, I am proud to be a part of the faculty at Southern Utah University, where I can share my professional expertise with the next generation of students.

Whether I am in the halls of SUU or serving in the community, I strive to lead with the same dedication I’ve applied to my quarter-century of marriage and my years in clinical practice. My transition from the sidelines to the classroom has been a rewarding evolution, allowing me to combine my clinical roots with my love for teaching. I remain deeply committed to the growth of our local institutions and the well-being of the people who call this region home.
